This app helps you Focus.

Why we built this

I (Travis) have tried dozens of different methods for getting stuff done and becoming more productive. I have used the GTD method. I have tried all sorts of to-do list apps, even paying for some. For me, I often found that simpler was better. The Reminders.app on iOS is a fairly simple to-do list app and ultimately for me it gets the job done.

One thing I felt was missing that would be useful is a “focus timer” for Reminders. The idea was to allow Reminders to still be the app to manage your to-do list, but extend it’s capability to create a simple experience that can remind you of your task at hand.

How it works

Setup

  1. Grant access to your Reminders data.

  2. Set the timer to the desired length of time.

  3. Pick one or several Reminders you want to complete before the timer ends.

  4. Start the timer and get focused!

Live Activities

The app leverages a feature on iOS called “Live Activities” which displays the countdown timer on your lock screen.

This Live Activity gets really cool when you use your iPhone in Standby mode. Your focus timer get’s larger and really pushes your attention towards your current focus. I find this especially useful when I am at my desk trying to focus.

Future & Feedback

Future Plans

  • At the end of a timer session we want to show you how many Reminders you completed and how long each one of them took.

  • Make it easier to sort and find the reminders you want to focus on.
